Greetings-----> My D620 IntelGPU has been serving me wonderfully over the last 6 months with Lion10.7.4 presently. Yesterday all was good, today I turned it on, to find a completely black screen, can't get a display to the bios. Upon powering up, the CD capstan turns, but only the power light is on. The HD light does not flash, even intermittently. Tried booting with an external monitor, no positive results, just a black screen. Any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I fear however that this is a hardware (possible fried mobo) issue.  Thanks!  ssprod

Dead ssprod,
Sounds like my macbook pro 4.1 that was fried by Lion and ML.
Try to remove the memory card and see if it can boot up.
Cheers!
Best regards, Syonagar.

Memory card? I have removed the ram if that means anything. Other than that, not quite sure what you mean, thanks again. ssprod

well start by basic trouble shooting.... remove dvd rom remove hdd remove wifi, leave only one ram slot populated and start from there with ram testing and then swap ram and locations, if basic striped down machine still give you issues then your mobo might be bad or the bios might need recovery.

HP HDX 16 / 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, nVidia GeForce GT 130M 1024, OCZ-VERTEX3 240.06 GB SSD with trim enabler, MB, BT & webcam native, running 10.8.3 ML.

D630nvidia /Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5ghz(Penryn) 1440x900 res/ 8gb ram/ OCZ-Vertex3 SSD/ Dell BT 360/ DW1395 wifi with dev id injected into BRCM wifi kext
D620nvidia / Core 2 Duo T7200 2.166ghz(Merom) 1440x900 res/ CRC OSX Bios / Chameleon 2-svn / EDP svn / nvs 110m/go7300 Graphics / 4gb ram 667mhz / momentus hybrid SSD hdd / SL 10.6.8 / Lion 10.7.4 / Working 360 bluetooth,
D620GMA / Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66ghz(Merom) / CRC OSX Bios / Chameleon 2-svn / EDP svn / Intel 945 Graphics / 2gb ram / SL 10.6.8 / Lion 10.7.4 / Working 350 bluetooth sucks, PCMCIA Linksys Wireless killed by 10.6.8-10.7... rest in peace broadcom dw1390 wifi & Sleep
D430 / core 2 duo 1.2 / 2gb ram / 360 bluetooth works better than 350, broadcom dw1390, lion 10.7.4... Thanks guys.
no progress on ML with any D series intel gma acceleration . nvidia models do work tested are D630&D830 nvidia. d620nvidia still no video acceleration and using dp1 kernel... looks grim

Hi Bronx, hope you're well! Thanks for the tip... tried what you've mentioned with the same results. How does one go about a bios recovery? Kind Regards. ssprod

Hi,

My D620 has started behaving similarly. Sometimes, when I switch it on, the screen just stays black, even if I switch it off and back on again. I have to remove the battery and put it back to recover.

The 1st few times this happened, I had had really strange vertical lines followed by blur on the screen. I'm beginning to wonder if the nVidia card is on its way to die or what...

UPDATE: Unplugged the CMOS battery for 15 minutes, plugged it back in--> now upon powering up, power light is solid illuminated AND middle+right CAP Locks are flashing. Still black screen exists. ssprod

And did you unplug/replug the main battery?

Herve, yes. It looks like I'll need to replace the mobo. That said, will ANY D620/intelGPU based mobo work with my C2DUO CPU? Having difficulty identifying the actual part number of this board. Thanks! ssprod

Thanks again, I suspect that my mobo needs to be replaced. I see lots on the bay with the model XD299. Is this what I'm after for an intel/C2DUO setup? Kind Regards

If your existing C2D CPU is off a D620, yes it will work in any D620 mobo. All D620 support C2D CPUs, as long as they're Socket M and FSB 667. Socket P is a no-go.
